Please include your Chrome version, the SnapMyNest version (shown in the popup footer) and what you were doing. A screenshot helps.
Quick answers
How do I take a screenshot?
Click the SnapMyNest icon, pick a mode (Visible Area, Full Page, Selected Area or Entire Screen) and press Capture Screenshot. Or use the shortcuts: Alt+Shift+V (visible), F (full page), A (selected area). Double-clicking a mode captures straight away.
Why is a mode greyed out?
Chrome does not let extensions touch special pages such as chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store. Open a normal website. Entire Screen still works through Chrome’s screen-sharing picker.
How do I record my screen?
Open the Record tab, choose Desktop, Window, This Tab or Custom Area, set Microphone, Camera and System audio if you want them, and press Start Recording. A 3-2-1 countdown (you can change it in Advanced Options) runs on the page, then a control bar appears at the bottom-left with the timer, Pause and Stop. You can drag it anywhere.
Why is there no sound from my computer?
Chrome decides what audio an extension may capture. Tab audio works when you record a tab. System audio works for a full screen on Windows and ChromeOS, and you must tick “Also share system audio” in Chrome’s picker. A single window cannot share audio.
How do I record just part of a page?
Choose Custom Area, press Start Recording and drag the area on the page. Use the handles, drag the box, or type an exact width and height, then press Record or Enter. Esc cancels.
What is “Private” and “Anyone with the link”?
They control who can open an upload. Private (default): only your own Google account. Anyone with the link: anyone who gets the link can open it without signing in; for YouTube it is an unlisted video. With “Anyone with the link” the link is copied to your clipboard when the upload finishes.
My YouTube upload is private even though I chose “Anyone with the link”.
Until Google has completed its review of the app, YouTube keeps uploads from it private. You can change the visibility in YouTube Studio. SnapMyNest tells you when this happens.
Google sign-in does not work.
Sign in to Chrome with your Google account first. If you are asked to approve access, choose Allow. In the Save to Cloud card, “Use a different account” clears the saved sign-in so you can pick another account.
Where are my captures? Can I get them back?
They are stored in your browser on this computer. Open My Captures from the popup. If you remove the extension or clear its data, they are deleted and we cannot recover them, because we never had a copy. Download or upload anything important.
Does SnapMyNest see my data?
No. See the privacy policy.
