Privacy Policy
In short: SnapMyNest does not collect, sell or share your data. Your screenshots and recordings stay in your browser. Something leaves your device only when you press Upload, and then it goes straight from your browser to your own Google Drive or YouTube.
1. Who we are
SnapMyNest (the “extension”) and this website are provided by RTSoftware Private Limited (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@snapmynest.com.
2. What stays on your device
- Screenshots and recordings you make are stored in your browser’s own storage (IndexedDB) on your computer. We do not receive them.
- Page title and website name (host) of the page you captured are saved with a capture so you can find it later. We do not store the full web address.
- Settings (for example theme, image format, delay, history size, recording choices, Private/Link) are kept with Chrome’s extension storage. If you use Chrome Sync, Chrome may sync the synced settings across your own devices; that is Chrome’s feature, not ours.
- Camera and microphone are used only when you turn them on for a recording. Chrome asks for your permission first. The audio and video are processed on your device and saved into your recording.
You can delete any capture or recording in My Captures at any time. Removing the extension removes its stored data from your browser.
3. What we collect
Nothing. We run no servers for the extension, we use no analytics or advertising, and neither the extension nor this website loads third-party scripts. This website does not use cookies.
4. Google Drive and YouTube (only when you press Upload)
If you press Upload, SnapMyNest asks Chrome to sign you in to Google and uploads the file you chose directly from your browser to Google. The file goes to your own Google Drive or YouTube channel. It does not pass through any server of ours.
| Google permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Google Drive: drive.file | Create files in your Drive and read or change only the files SnapMyNest itself created. It cannot see anything else in your Drive. |
| YouTube: youtube.upload | Upload videos to your YouTube account. Requested only when you press the YouTube button, separately from Drive. |
- Private (default): only your Google account can open the upload. Anyone with the link: anyone with the link can open it without signing in (on YouTube it is uploaded as unlisted). We never make anything public or searchable.
- Until Google has completed its review of this app, YouTube may keep uploaded videos private whatever you choose. SnapMyNest tells you when that happens.
- We never see or store your Google password or access tokens. Chrome holds the token. “Use a different account” in the Save to Cloud card revokes it.
- You can remove SnapMyNest’s access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Files you uploaded stay in your Drive or YouTube until you delete them there.
SnapMyNest’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Permissions the extension asks for, and why
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| activeTab | To capture, record or draw on the tab you are looking at, only after you click the SnapMyNest icon or use a shortcut. It does not give access to your other tabs. |
| scripting | To show the area picker, the recording control bar and the countdown on that tab, and to take full-page captures. |
| tabCapture | To record the current tab (and its audio) when you choose “This Tab” or “Custom Area”. |
| offscreen | To keep a recording running in a hidden page of the extension while the popup is closed. |
| storage | To remember your settings and choices (theme, delay, format, recording options, Private/Link). |
| clipboardWrite | To copy a screenshot or a link to your clipboard when you ask for it (Auto-copy, Copy, Copy link). |
| identity | To sign in with the Google account that is signed in to Chrome, only when you press Upload. |
The extension does not ask for access to all websites, does not read page content, and does not track your browsing.
6. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your data, because we do not have it. The only data transfer is the upload you start yourself, to your own Google account, as described above.
7. Children
SnapMyNest is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
8. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, say so on this page.
